The company has been around in South Carolina since 2004 and although small, boasts an incredibly dedicated staff of scooter enthusiasts themselves. The Super Turbo Elite 800 and the 1000 Lithium are their two main products, and if imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then the company has a permanent blush. There are knock-off products online using the same name, and the company warns to “make sure it is from Super Cycles & Scooters” as they’ve had numerous issues dealing with competitor copycats.

It’s an enviable position have one of the highest-rated products in the industry, but another to be out of stock due to demand. Keeping up with the need for their products has been a challenge for Super Cycles & Scooters and has probably led to this emergence of the copycats. In an unusal twist that says a lot about their design-even the knock-offs get good reviews.

Our research into the Super Turbo 800 turned up an incredible amount of positive reviews. For starters, this is one of the highest rated products on Amazon.com. Not highest rated electric scooters, mind you, but highest rated products. With 74 different reviews aggregating to a total 4.9 out of 5.0 stars-this is one loved item.

It has been described by reviewers as the “Porsche” of electric scooters and with good reason. The Super Turbo Elite 800 is sturdily built with high quality materials and an attention to detail. As an example: the frame is made from steel instead of aluminum and comes with both front and rear disk brakes. Going further, the Super Turbo has front single and rear dual shocks for a comfortable ride. It uses a turn-key ignition to start and has a twist throttle with Turbo/Econo mode button: Turbo to go fast and Econo mode for distance.

And wow, is it fast! Reviewers online are surprised at the speed addition through the turbo button, with one comparing it to a nitrous oxide injection in an automobile. The rated speed of 20-25 mph seemed par for the course for adult riders averaging 195 lbs. One reviewer commented, “I weigh 235 pounds and it moves me like I weigh 80.” Climbing hills is no problem, either, and the distance on a single charge is an impressive range of 12-15 miles.

This is due in part to the “deep cell” lead acid batteries which the company claims give an longer run time per charge. A three-light system reports on the state of the battery during use: When all three lights are lit-the battery is at full charge. As the battery drains, the indicators go from green to yellow to red.

The Super Turbo 800-Elite ships in one package after extensive testing of each unit prior to delivery. Any accessory purchased at the same time will be installed prior to shipping at no extra charge. Put-together is a snap: from unpacking to full assembly takes less than 15 minutes. There is an available assembly video on the company site but it should not be necessary.

The Super Turbo 800-Elite can be used with/without the removable seat. This is a nice feature if you were considering the Razor S(seated) versions of their popular E-series. An LED head light is included free of charge and two fat, 10.5” all terrain tires provide great stability and comfort over uneven terrain. The Super Turbo folds up quickly for transport or to put away if using as a commute to work.

This brings us to possibly the only negative we could find concerning the Super Turbo 800: it is very heavy. At 85 lbs total weight it is possibly heavier than any other electric scooter you may be considering. The steel design and quality materials are certainly at play here. The battery pack can be removed separately, however, and two handles and a small carrying bag are part of the unit to ease in transport.

We mention this potential drawback not so much as a negative, but more as a caveat to your use/needs. Carrying it up or down several flights of stairs daily could be quite a chore. If you will be storing this in your garage and rarely transporting then the weight should not be an issue.

In summary, here at Best Electric Scooters we actually found it hard to find negative issues about the Super Turbo 800. Many who reviewed the Super Turbo were purchasing it as a gift for their son/daughter and remarked that it may be tough to for them stop using it first! Several just wound up buying two. To us that says a lot about a product: it’s good when you just can’t bear to share.

Best Electric Scooter Recommendation

Overall, we feel very comfortable recommending the Super Turbo 800 Elite. The fantastic design and attention to details cannot be overlooked. Every nut and bolt are meticulously thought out and of the highest quality. The customer service alone is something companies should be envious of. This may be in part due to the fact that Super Cycles is such a small company that they handle all customer service completely in-house. Reviewers who have had to contact Super Cycles found an extremely knowledgable staff who were friendly and really willing go the extra mile to help their customers.

One caveat for gift-purchasers: this is not a toy scooter in any way. We would not recommend it for a child that would be looking to do stunts or just using it to play around on-it’s not meant for that. It can certainly be ridden safely by an 8-year old, but is primarily targeted to a young/mature adult.

Finally, we’d like to address the price of this product. It’s not cheap by any means but nor should it be. The electric scooter market unfortunately sees a gap between, “toys for the kids” and “very expensive” (over $1,000). Super Cycles has found a way to fill the gap nicely without sacrificing anything in high-end scooters. If you are in the market for a quality ride that’s a ton of fun for all sizes and ages, you certainly won’t be sorry with the Super Turbo 800-Elite. It’s one of the best electric scooters we’ve seen.

I bought this for my 10 year old son and he loves it. We had an issue (or so I thought) with setting up the brake light kit. I’m soooo not mechanically inclined. I called and right away I was talking to Chris, who I think is actually the owner. Super-nice and helpful and after taking Ethan’s for a spin (one too many times for his taste!) I’m thinking about getting one for me.
Only thing is they’re pricey.
